Nine member states call for social EU Constitution

Nine EU member states have signed a declaration to include more ’Social Europe’ in the Constitution, nearly two years after French and Dutch voters rejected the text in a referendum, mainly over globalisation fears. The text was presented on 14 February 2007 in Paris, by French Labour Minister Gerard Larcher. He said: “Our declaration is open to the all the 27 member states of the EU.”
