Polish Presidential Elections : Analysis and Implications
Sunday’s victory of Andrzej Duda, of the right-wing Law and Justice Party in the presidential elections marks a lot of changes for Poland. It is the first win for the party in a decade, but many claim it was hardly his (or their) success and choose to associate it with the surprising failure of the incumbent president Bronislaw Komorowski, of the centrist Civic Platform, instead. Indeed, when the campaign began, he was predicted overwhelmingly ahead of Duda and his re-election was considered the most likely result of the elections.
