Debating in the Heart of Europe !

In the dim and distant past, in the small and jolly Czech Republic, a town was born. Little did Olomouc’s founders know that 11 centuries later, the town would become the Heart of Europe. Every year debaters from all over the world gather to display their skills in the art of argumentation and rhetorics, commonly referred to as debating. The following article is written from the perspective of two adjudicators who judged the Word Style format at the 2015 edition.

Eurovision 2015 : Final #JEFJudgement

All good things must come to an end and the 60th edition of the Eurovision was not an exception to this rule. The grand final was screened live on May 23rd, with Sweden snatching the title for the sixth time. Thank you to everyone who joined me for a virtual party and tweeted using the #JEFJudge hashtag.

Eurovision Song Contest 2015 : Our #JEFJudge on Semi-Final Two

The second semi-final was screened live on YouTube on Thursday May 21st with 17 countries competing for 10 golden tickets to the grand final. Already at the finish line were the 10 countries who advanced from the first semi-final, along with France, the United Kingdom, Australia, Austria, Germany, Italy, and Spain.

Eurovision Song Contest 2015 : A JEF judgement on Semi-Final One

The 60th edition of the Eurovision 2015 Song Contest has officially started ! It aims to portray the best talent that each country has to offer. This year’s motto was ‘Building Bridges’, which fits in perfectly with JEF’s Twinning Programme. After watching the first 16 contestants give it their all, I was a bit taken aback by some of the entries, whilst impressed by others. Sadly, none of them have rivalled my favourites, such as ABBA’s 1974 win for Sweden, or Alexander Rybak’s 2009 win for Norway, nor Tom Dice’s 2010 entry for Belgium.
