Young European Federalists demand European Parliament to back “democratic renewal”

Earlier this week, the European Council made its nominations for the ‘EU top jobs’, including the next Commission President. In a press release, the Young European Federalists (JEF-Europe) slam the lack of transparency in the decision. As a remedy, the organisation calls for the European Parliament to lead a “democratic renewal” of the EU.

Federalists to provide two election night online broadcasts on Sunday 26 May

Even on European election night, on TV and in mainstream newspapers it is difficult to find live commentary of events made from a pan-European perspective. The main task of nationally-based TV channels is to discuss results in one country.

On 26 May, The New Federalist will fill this gap in cooperation with JEF and UEF. Starting from 8:15pm CEST and finishing just after midnight, the federalists will provide two live broadcasts online – one from Brussels and another from everywhere in Europe.

The New Federalist’s Radu Dumitrescu shortlisted for European Press Prize 2019

Radu Dumitrescu, one of the Editors-in-Chief of The New Federalist, has been shortlisted for the 2019 edition of the European Press Prize in the Opinion category. The shortlisted piece, entitled “Use Article 7 against my country”, was published on The New Federalist on 17 November 2018. The European Press Prize is awarded annually to “celebrate the highest achievements of European journalism”.

Young European Federalists and partners launch “I Choose Europe” election campaign

On Saturday in Paris, the Young European Federalists (JEF) and a range of partner organisations launched their common #IChooseEurope campaign ahead of the European elections. The launch took place in Paris at the Quartier Général festival for young people engaged in European affairs. “I Choose Europe” is the campaign run by the “European Youth Together : Road to the Future” project involving twelve countries.

Vacancy in the TNF editorial team : Graphics & Twitter

The New Federalist is recruiting one new editorial team member for the post of Social Media Officer. The new team member’s main tasks would be to produce graphics for TNF’s Facebook and Twitter channels, and to manage the TNF Twitter account.

Youth engagement experts gather in Portimão to prepare joint European elections campaign

As the public launch of the European Youth Together : Road to the Future project nears, youth engagement and communications experts from various organisations, companies and institutions gathered in Portimão, Portugal to pull the strings together last week. The meeting was dedicated to reviewing European Youth Together project plans, and tools to be used in the ‘I Choose Europe’ European election campaign led by JEF Europe together with partners.
